Chongqing Deputy Mayor Meets GASME Chairman

On June 25, 2010, Zhou Mubing, Deputy Mayor of Chongqing met with Mr. Carlos Magarinos, Honorary Global Chairman of the Global Alliance of SMEs (GASME) and his delegation at Chongqing Jinke Grand Hotel. The two parties had a relaxed discussion regarding international cooperation of SMEs.

Mr. Zhou stated that the Chongqing Liangjiang New Area is the third sub-provincial zone in China to be approved by the central government, following Shanghai Pudong New Area and Tianjin Binhai New Area. Planned to be a major modern manufacturing center and comprehensive traffic hub in western China, the new area has already added new vigor to Chongqing’s development, and is poised to become the upper-Changjiang center of trade, commerce, logistics, finance, and scientific and technological innovation.

Amazed by the tremendous achievements of Chongqing since its promotion to a municipality, Magarinos said that Chongqing had a historic opportunity to enjoy even greater development and to draw vast foreign capital. He further emphasized that GASME was to consider Chongqing as the city of priority in western China. Practical co-operative ventures would also be carried out in the fields of international business exchanges, global finance, introduction of advanced technologies, global brand promotion, and international talent training.

Other guests present at the meeting included Zhang Xijian (Vice Director General of Chongqing Foreign Trade and Economy Committee), Jiang Jianguo (Director General of Chongqing Bureau of Foreign Experts Affairs), Xie Weidong (Vice Director General of Chongqing SME Bureau), as well as George Wang (Executive Vice Chairman of GASME, President of USCEA, Global Economic Advisor of Chongqing Municipal Government and Professor of Finance of City University of New York), Shawn He Yuxun (Chairman of MeetChinaBiz and Senior Advisor of GASME), and CAO Fang (Chinese Secretary-General of GASME and Chief Representative of the US-China Exchange Association Shanghai Office).
