2022 Smart Manufacturing and Digital Economy Forum Held in Hefei

The World Manufacturing Convention (WMC) 2022 Smart Manufacturing and Digital Economy Forum was successfully held in Anhui Jinling Hotel on September 21.

The forum was supported by the Department of Economy and Information Technology of Anhui Province, the Department of Commerce of Anhui Province, the Department of Education of Anhui Province, Anhui Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Hefei Municipal People’s Government and National Innovation Center of Intelligent and Connected Vehicles, and was hosted by Global Alliance of SMEs, Anhui Sino-German Education Cooperation Foundation, Anhui Digital Economy Society and the Administrative Committee of Hefei Xinzhan High-Tech Industrial Development Zone.

The theme of this forum was “The High-quality Development of Manufacturing Empowered by Digitalization". The period covered by the 14th Five-Year Plan is a period of innovation-driven development under a dual circulation development pattern and transition from high-speed growth to high-quality development. Accelerating smart and digital development is not only a pivotal step in promoting China's economic growth and sustainable development, but also a major strategic choice to build a modern and powerful country and address global changes and challenges.

Important guests including Christian Wulff, Global Chairman of GASME and former President of Germany（via video）, Han Jun, Vice Chairman of the Anhui Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Chairman of Anhui Association for Science and Technology, Wu Zhongze, Former Member of the Party CPC Leadership Group of the Ministry of Science and Technology, He Weiwen, Vice Chairman of Global Alliance of SMEs, Frank Cao, Secretary-General of the Global Alliance of SMEs, Otthein Herzog, Fellow of the German National Academy of Science and Engineering (via video), Ke Wenbin, Deputy Director of the Department of Economy and Information Technology of Anhui Province, Yang Xiaolin, Deputy Director of Foreign Affairs Office of Anhui Provincial People’s Government, Zhao Ming, Vice Mayor of Hefei Municipal People’s Government, Zhou Furu, Chairman of the 11th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference of Hefei, Chen Shiyi, Executive Vice President of Anhui University, Han Dongya, President of Anhui Digital Economy Society, Chen Xiu, Chairman of Anhui Sino-German Education Cooperation Foundation, and more than 200 government officials, entrepreneurs, experts and scholars as well as hundreds of thousands of online viewers attended the forum.

Christian Wulff, former President of Germany and Global Chairman of GASME, delivered a speech via video. Ke Wenbin, Deputy Director of the Department of Economy and Information Technology of Anhui Province, Zhao Ming, Vice Mayor of Hefei Municipal People’s Government, and Frank Cao, Secretary-General of the Global Alliance of SMEs delivered speeches at the forum. Wu Zhongze, Former Member of the Party CPC Leadership Group of the Ministry of Science and Technology, He Weiwen, Vice Chairman of GASME and former Economic and Commercial Counselor at the Consulate General of the P.R. China in San Francisco and New York, Otthein Herzog, Fellow of the German National Academy of Science and Engineering, Chen Shiyi, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Executive Vice President of Anhui University, Han Dongya, President of Anhui Digital Economy Society and Chen Xiu, Chairman of Anhui Sino-German Education Cooperation Foundation addressed keynote speeches. Tang Xiaolin, General Manager of Runlian Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., Wang Guangyu, Deputy General Manager of JAC Sihao New Energy Passenger Vehicle Company, Shi Tenglong, Senior Vice Chairman of GASME Sustainable Development Committee and Chairman of Fuhui Holding Co., Ltd., Tong Junlong, Chairman of Ningbo Youshijia Vision Care Co., Ltd., and Xu Xiangdong, General Manager of Noveland Corporation addressed speeches on behalf of the participating entrepreneurs. The speakers made in-depth explanations of the opportunities and challenges brought by digital transformation, and explored new paths, models and scenarios for the development of the digital economy.

The strategic cooperation signing ceremony between GASME and Runlian Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., Sihao New Energy Passenger Vehicle Company, Anhui Digital Economy Society and Anhui Chamber of Commerce for Small and Micro Enterprises was also held at the forum.

The initiator of this forum, Global Alliance of Small and Medium Enterprises, has gained Special Consultative Status with Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC) and Consultative Status with the United National Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). GASME is also one of the initiators and hosts of World Manufacturing Convention.
