2024 ESG Green Development Conference and Ban Ki-moon Sustainable Development Charity Dinner Held in Xi’an
On January 12, the 2024 ESG Green Development Conference and Ban Ki-moon Sustainable Development Charity Dinner was held at Shaanxi Hotel in Xi’an.
With the theme of “Practicing ESG Concepts and Promoting High-Quality Development”, the conference brought together relevant business leaders, experts and scholars to explore the future vision of ESG and green, sustainable, philanthropic and high-quality development through keynote speeches and interactive exchanges.
Guests attending the conference included Ban Ki-moon, the Eighth Secretary-General of the United Nations and Chairman of the Boao Forum for Asia, Zhang Zhigang, Former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Commerce of China, Kim Sook, Former Ambassador of South Korea to the United Nations and Executive Director of the Ban Ki-moon Foundation, Frank Cao, Executive Chairman and Secretary General of GASME and Advisor on Chinese Affairs to Former German President Wulff, Zhuang Congsheng, Full-time Vice Chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, Wang Guolong, Former Deputy Director of the Department of Commerce of Shaanxi Province, Wang Erhu, Former Deputy Chairman of the Shaanxi Committee of CPPCC, Zhou Kaixiang, Former Deputy Director of the Shaanxi Complaints and Proposals Administration and others.
Chairman Ban Ki-moon proposed in his keynote speech that practicing ESG concept and promoting high-quality development of the global green economy has become a global consensus and a general trend, and he hoped that governments, chambers of commerce, associations, multinational corporations, SMEs, and individuals would take active actions to protect the environment, make effective use of resources to push forward the realization of the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
Chairman Zhuang Congsheng pointed out in his speech that it is hoped that this forum can carry out in-depth, practical and effective exchanges and cooperation, and that it can fully exchange and share the new experiences and achievements in ESG and green development to accelerate the development of eco-civilization and promote green development.
The Launching Ceremony of the International Exhibition Tour of the World in Poetry was also held at the conference. With the theme of “Our Planet Our Home”, the exhibition tour uses ancient Chinese poems and paintings to show the great mountains and rivers around the world, which is an important way to improve the country’s soft power and the impact of its culture, and is of great significance in enhancing the exchanges and mutual appreciation of the traditional Chinese culture and foreign cultures.
Through the integration of keynote speeches, interactive exchanges and performances, the conference vividly demonstrated Shaanxi’s rich cultural history, and expressed the confidence and determination to practice ESG concepts and promote high-quality development under the background of the new era and with the sail of innovation.
