2025 World Manufacturing Convention Held in Hefei
The 2025 World Manufacturing Convention was held in Hefei from September 20th to 23rd.
The convention was jointly hosted by Global Alliance of SMEs (GASME), the People’s Government of Anhui Province, the National Manufacturing Power Construction Strategy and the China Association of SMEs.
During the conference, four major events, six project matchmaking events, and 23 special events were held, focusing on building a strong manufacturing country and the achievements of Anhui’s manufacturing industry in the 14th Five Year Plan period. Ten comprehensive exhibition areas were set up to present the development achievements of Anhui and China’s manufacturing industry in a comprehensive and multi-dimensional manner.
On the morning of September 20th, the Opening Ceremony of the 2025 World Manufacturing Convention was held in Hefei themed “Intelligent Manufacturing for a Better Future”. The convention was attended by businessmen from nearly 50 countries and regions including the United States, Germany, and the United Kingdom, as well as important guests such as hundreds of manufacturing giants, CEOs of Fortune Global 500 companies and multinational corporations, academicians, renowned experts and scholars, and leaders of well-known manufacturing enterprises.
Wang Yong, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, attended the Opening Ceremony and delivered an address. He stated that in the face of a new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation, China is willing to strengthen cooperation with all parties in key areas such as manufacturing, break down barriers to the flow of technology, talent, data and other factors, promote deep integration of industry, academia, research and application, break through key core technologies, promote the application of achievements, achieve green and low-carbon development to jointly create a better future for high-quality development of the manufacturing industry.
Christian Wulff, Former President of Germany, Honorary Chairman of GASME, Recipient of the Chinese Government Friendship Award 2022, expressed in his address that today we are witnessing how artificial intelligence and digital twins are redefining production processes. At the same time, a sustainable, low-carbon orientation has become the only valid passport to the future in order to combat climate change. But no one can walk this path alone. In particular, SMEs must be more strongly integrated into global value chains. They need technological support and fair competitive conditions which is exactly our common goal. When we achieve this, both China and Germany will benefit.
Including the Opening Ceremony and keynote speeches, more than 30 major or special events were held during the 2025 World Manufacturing Convention, a significant increase from the previous one; With the help of the 2025 World Manufacturing Conference, a global stage, over 100 research results, industry indices, white papers, and other achievements were debuted, further enhancing the value of the convention. According to statistics, the 2025 World Manufacturing Convention has facilitated a total of 735 cooperative projects with a total investment of 380.2 billion yuan. The number of projects and investment amount have increased by 2.4% and 3% respectively compared to the previous year; The number of manufacturing projects and its proportion of total investment both exceed 90%; and the number of cooperative projects in the Yangtze River Delta and its proportion of total investment region both exceed 50%.
