The International Situation and China’s Economic Development Forum Held in Ningbo

Organized by the Global Alliance of SMEs (GASME) and Ningbo Association of Industry and Commerce, the International Situation and China’s Economic Development Forum and the Press Conference of the Third China’s SMEs Global Development Forum were held in Ningbo on September 13th. Around 700 participants attended this forum.

The forum aims at providing a penetrating insight on the world situation and China’s economic development in order to find opportunities for China’s enterprises.

VIPs included: Mr. Li Zhaoxing, Former Foreign Minister of China and President of China Public Diplomacy Association; Mr. Wei Jianguo, Former Deputy Minister of Commerce of China and Vice Director General of China Center for International Economic Exchange; Mr. He Weiwen, Vice Chairman of GASME and Former Commercial Counselor of Consulate-General of the P.R. China in NY; Mr. Shi Xiaoguo, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of Ningbo Municipal Congress; Mr. Fanyi, Vice President of the CPPCC Ningbo Municipal Committee; Mr. Wu Shengwu, District Mayor of Haishu District of Ningbo City; Mr. Frank Cao, Secretary-General of GASME; Mr. Huang Linjun, Vice President of Ningbo Association of Industry and Commerce, etc.

Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing indicated in his speech that the process of enterprises’ overseas investment is just like the process of people-to-people diplomacy. He said that we should respect other countries’ culture and learn from their strengths when we invest abroad. Improving the impression of Chinese people in the world through people’s daily behaviors is one of the important ways to strengthen China’s international competitiveness.

In the Q&A session, an entrepreneur consulted with Mr. Li about how to use the spirit of diplomacy in the process of international cooperation. Mr. Li pointed out that public diplomacy is not actually abstruse, but reflecting in what people say and do, for example, advocating frugality is also the basic diplomatic etiquette. He told entrepreneurs that President Clinton and his wife Hillary had very good impression of Shanghai just because the environmental activism of using double-sided paper in Shanghai.

As one of the top experts of One Belt And One Road Initiative, Mr. Wei Jianguo, Former Deputy Minister of Commerce of China pointed out that we have an urgent need to establish a good mechanism including flexible and efficient service organization, relative governmental supporting policies and risk protection mechanisms to help private enterprises participate in One Belt And One Road Initiative. Mr. Wei estimated that a new peak of China’s export will come after the most difficult one or two years. He told entrepreneurs present that the future world belonged to the Internet, the wise and the outstanding entrepreneurs.

Mr. He Weiwen, Vice Chairman of GASME emphasized the importance of industrial development. He indicated that the transformation and upgrading of China’s economic development does not mean abandoning the industrial economy, but pay more attention on industrial economy and finally making China become a manufacturing powerhouse. Ningbo enterprises should seize the opportunities of “Made in China 2025” Plan to speed up their transformation and upgrading and their internationalization development.

Mr. Frank Cao, Secretary-General of GASME introduced the preparations for the Third China’s SMEs Global Development Forum. Mr. Kofi Annan, Former Secretary-General of the United Nations has confirmed to attend the Third China’s SMEs Global Development Forum organized by GASME and Ningbo Chamber of Commerce on November 23th and the International Forum of China Internet Finance 2015 organized by GASME; Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies, Renmin University of China and Ningbo Internet Financial Industry Association on November 24th. Besides, more than 500 China-Africa business cooperation projects will be released during these two forums.
