U.S. release of nanotechnology development strategy 2011

White House Office of Science and Technology released in February 2011 the United States 2011 Nanotechnology Development Strategy (NNI). U.S. National Nanotechnology Plan (NNI) is the U.S. federal government agencies across the sector, a systematic program designed to coordinate the overall U.S. nanotechnology research and development, and enhance the entire U.S. scientific research in nano-scale cooperation efforts to ensure the United States in nanotechnology, engineering and technical aspects of the world leader.

The first U.S. National Nanotechnology Initiative was released in 2000, when the strategic plan of the development of nanotechnology in the U.S. government's strategic goals and strategic plan, marking the advancing nanotechnology in the United States entered a new stage of development. 2011 version of the strategic plan is still followed the old version's overall strategic objectives, in terms of strategic fine-tuning done.

2011 new 60-page strategic plan focused on specific strategic objectives in the following:

1 nm to keep the United States holds the world leader in research and development plan: Continue to increase support for research and development efforts; brewing started at least five interdisciplinary nanotechnology research program; identify and support the national goals of nanotechnology-related research and development; to develop nanotechnology economies of scale.

2 increase the commercialization of nanotechnology, the product of the efforts: extension of R & D chain, accelerate the large-scale production; concerned about industry needs to speed up the commercialization process; strengthen infrastructure construction, establishment of a national equipment, support systems conditions; support nanotechnology small businesses; the United States in the field of nanotechnology to enhance international participation.

3 strengthen the educational resources, to strengthen technical training, to promote innovation: start and improve education and training programs; provide ongoing professional and technical training support.

4 supports the responsible development of nanotechnology: nano-materials will be added to the security considerations which nano products; strengthen cooperation with international community in the standardization of research collaboration; strengthen ethical and legal aspects of research management efforts.
