Regional Cooperation Conference

US-China Business Round Table in Orlando, Florida

US-China Business Roundtable, co-organized by US-China Exchange Association, Orlando Municipal Government, and Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission (MOEDC) was held in the MOEDC on November 21, 2007. Daisy Lynum, Commissioner and Mayor Pro Tem of City of Orlando, Rodney Hughes, Director of Business Development of MOEDC, Sherry Reeves, Executive Director of Manufacturing Association of Central Florida, Samuel Ings, Commissioner of City of Orlando, Lonnie Bell, Executive Director of African American Chamber of Commerce of Central Florida, and many company executives from Metro Orlando area participated in the roundtable meeting.


The roundtable discussion was hosted by Rodney Hughes. Dr. George Wang, President of US-China Exchange Association, Chair of Finance Area of the College of Staten Island of City University of New York, and Member of the International Council of National League of Cities, gave a presentation on the various issues related to China market, and answered the questions from other attendees regarding the trade imbalance, job lost, product recall and other "hot" topics debated in the media recently. The event was very well received by the audiences.


During his stay in Orlando, Dr. Wang also met with Buddy Dyer, Mayor of Orlando, Russ Hauck, Mayor of City of Altamonte Spring, Gary Siplin, The Florida State Senator, Robert Stuart, Commissioner of City of Orlando, Carmenza Gonzales, Vice President of Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission, Dr. M. J. Solieau, Vice President of University of Central Florida, and many other company executives from Metro Orlando area. The City of Orlando is the hometown of Disney. With the arrangement of the USCEA, Orlando signed the MOU with China's Shizuishan City of Ningxia Autonomous Region for developing the collaboration relationship between the two cities in Shanghai about two years ago. A Chinese delegation, led by Mayor Zuoli Zhang, visited Orlando in November 2007.
