2005 US-China Business Building Conference (Boston)

The 2005 US-China Business Building Conference (US), organized by USCEA in association with the Pan-New England International Entrepreneur Alliance, US Department of Commerce, Massachusetts Export Center and Bryant University, was held in Boston and Philadelphia on August 17th and 19th, 2005.


The US-China Business Building Conference, initiated by USCEA, has become a significant platform with widespread influence on the exchange and opportunity exploring for the US and Chinese business communities for the past 5 years. The 2005 US-China Business Building Conference (US) received strong support from Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania and Philadelphia state/municipal governments, as well as the positive participation of business communities of both sides.


Ms. Linda Noonan, Executive Director, Alliance for the Commonwealth, Mr. Stanley White, Chief of Staff, Congressman Robert Brady's Office, Mr. Shawn He, Chair of the Pan-New England International Entrepreneur Alliance iNetwork128, Mjenzi K. Traylor, First Deputy Director, International Programs, Department of Commerce of City of Philadelphia, Joanna Savvides, President of Greater Philadelphia World Trade Center, John Goldschmidt, Chairman of Philadelphia International Visitors Council spoke on the opening ceremony. Some other US and Chinese officials also attended the conference.


Over 40 entrepreneurs from China and over 100 from the US, representing industries ranging from light industry, consumer products, electronics, recreation and retail, to chemical, construction materials, machinery and pharmaceuticals, attended this hugely successful conference, resulting in more than 20 Letters of Intent (LOIs) signed between US and Chinese companies on business partnerships. The total amount of these LOI is up to US$ 30 million.


Ms. Linda Noonan, Executive Director, Alliance for the Commonwealth, Joanna Savvides, President, Greater Philadelphia World Trade Center, John Goldschmidt, Chairman, Philadelphia International Visitors Council deemed highly of this excellent work of USCEA, as well as the outstanding contribution made upon promoting business relationship between two countries. They expressed the great expectation that USCEA, being a significant channel to bridge US-China business exchange activities, grow stronger in the future.

Upon the completion of the conference, the Chinese delegation visited New York, Washington D.C., Los Angeles and Las Vegas, during which the delegates from Wenzhou Plastic Industry met with the HUSKY company, a well known US plastic products manufacturer (arranged by USCEA) and put forward a fruitful discussion.
