Annual Conference of GASME 2019 Held in Hefei

On January 14th, 2019, Annual Conference of GASME 2019 was held in Hefei, Anhui Province, China.

Distinguished guests gathered at the conference to celebrate the achievements that GASME has achieved over the 20 years and envision its development blueprint. The bygone 2018 marked a year of fruitful outcomes for GASME and together with its partners, GASME successfully held many major events, including: the World Manufacturing Convention 2018, the 5th China SMEs Global Development Forum, the Third Entrepreneur Forum (Hangzhou), the 19th World Knowledge Forum, the Second World Congress of Acupuncture-Moxibustion on Health Care & Preservation, and five Ban Ki-moon Sustainable Development Lectures. GASME proactively advocates sustainable development ideas and promotes the cooperation among global SMEs for mutual benefits.

Senior executives of GASME attending the conference include: Christian Wulff, Global Chairman of GASME and Former President of the Federal Republic of Germany, He Weiwen, Vice Chairman of GASME and Former Economic and Commercial Counselor at the Consulate General of the P.R. China in New York, Frank Cao, Secretary-General of GASME and Global Affairs Adviser to Former German President Christian Wulff, Wang Zhenghua, Co-chair of GASME Sustainable Development Council and President of Spring Group, Jin Xiangzuo, Vice Chairman of GASME and President of World Packaging Center Group. Government officials and representatives from institutions of higher learning include: Guo Wanqing, Former Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the Anhui Provincial People’s Congress, Zhao Zhenhua, Deputy Secretary General of the Anhui Provincial Government, Zhao Bin, Former Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Austria, Li Yongsheng, Deputy Director of the Committee for Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese and Committee of Foreign Affairs of the Anhui Provincial People’s Political Consultative Conference and Former Chinese Consul General to Manchester, Zhou Furu, Former Chairman of the Hefei Municipal People’s Political Consultative Conference, Liu Guang, Deputy Director of the Department of Commerce of Anhui Province, Zheng Mingwu, Director of the Information Office of the Anhui Provincial People’s Government, Zhu Ce, Deputy Mayor of Hefei City, and Guo Peng, Executive Deputy Mayor of Bengbu City, Anhui Province, Cai Jingmin, Secretary of Hefei University Party Committee, Zhou Wenlong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Zhejiang Sci-Tech University. Senior executive of leading companies include: Chen Juming, President of Airbus China, Yu Zhuyun, Vice Chairman of China Region of GASME and President of Central Holding Group, Yang Anguo, General Manager of Anhui Heli Co., Ltd, Li Zhen, President of Guoxuan High-Tech Co.,Ltd.

Guo Wanqing, Former Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the Anhui Provincial People’s Congress pointed out in the welcome address that the World Manufacturing Convention 2018 co-hosted by GAMSE and the Anhui Provincial Government was a resounding success. It not only introduced Anhui to well-known international manufacturing enterprises, but also encouraged local enterprises to catch up with the international standard. The WMC 2019 to be held in September this year is bound to be a major manufacturing gathering with global impact.

Christian Wulff, Global Chairman of GASME and Former President of the Federal Republic of Germany pointed out that China and Germany are two economic heavyweights and China is soon to be the largest economy in the world. Germany are stunned by China in terms of infrastructure development, especially for rail, electro-mobility and IT. Chinese are amazed at Germany in terms of family businesses, craftsmanship, dual training and mechanical engineering. He further pointed out that with the closer economic ties developed between the two countries, the enterprises would see extensive cooperation opportunities. Mr. Wulff also pointed out that the fast development of Anhui had attracted international attention and that the solid support from Anhui Provincial Government was one of the major momentum for the success of the WMC 2018 and he believed that the WMC 2019 is bound to be a huge success.

Secretary-General Frank Cao reviewed in his speech that it has been 20 years since GASME was initially founded in 1999 as the US-China Exchange Association. Officially upgraded as GASME in 2009, it has witnessed leap-forward development in the last decade. With the joint efforts of all, GASME has developed from a bilateral exchange organization between China and the U.S into a global organization among SMEs with international influence, receiving high recognition from the international community. In the following decade, GASME will focus on three major business: to develop the World Manufacturing Convention into the “Davos” of the manufacturing industry; to establish a global cooperation organization of chambers of commerce with the aim of creating the “UN” of the business world and to explore new models of targeted poverty alleviation to contribute to the realization of the UN sustainable development goals. Secretary-General Cao pointed out that with the support from Mr. Wulff and other international leaders, with the active participation of the entrepreneurs, and with determination, bravery and perseverance, our three major business will surely be fulfilled!

He Weiwen, Vice Chairman of GASME and Former Economic and Commercial Counselor at the Consulate General of the P.R. China in New York, Wang Zhenghua, Co-chair of GASME Sustainable Development Council and President of Spring Group, and Zhang Wendong, Vice President of China General Chamber of Commerce in Nigeria also delivered speeches. They recognized the achievements GASME had made and wished GASME could remain true to its original aspiration and devote itself continuously to the bilateral and multilateral cooperation among global SMEs.

At the conference, corporations that achieved outstanding achievements in 2018 were rewarded. Spring Airlines was awarded Global Social Responsibility Award, Anhui Heli Co., Ltd was awarded Global Quality Production Award, Guoxuan High-Tech was awarded Global Sustainable Development Award, Eve Group was awarded Global Craftsmanship Award, World Packaging Center Group was awarded Global Resource Integration Award, Wensli Group was awarded Global Cultural Creation Award, Central Holding Group was awarded Contribution to Rural Revitalization Award, Zhejiang Sci-Tech University was awarded Industry-Education Integration and Creation Award, Hefei University was awarded University-Enterprise Cooperation Award, and Shanghai Management Accounting Training Co., Ltd. was awarded Entrepreneur Education Award. Mr. Wulff presented the awards to the above ten corporations.

At the conference, the Signing Ceremony for Cooperation on World Leaders Camp 2019 was held. In June, GASME will organize 100 excellent entrepreneurs for a study tour in the U.S.

At the closing part of the conference, the audience watched traditional Chinese opera and performance and listened to the piano duet brought by famous German pianists. The integration of Chinese and western culture elements brought the audience into a music world of enjoyment and beauty.
