Ambassador Gary Locke Speech and Launching Ceremony of the Global Forum for Fortune 500 and SME Cooperation Held in Shanghai

On May 18th, 2016, the Ambassador Gary Locke Speech and Launching Ceremony of the Global Forum for Fortune 500 and SME Cooperation 2016, organized by the Global Alliance of SMEs (GASME), was held at InterContinental Shanghai Expo. Over 400 entrepreneurs and friends from the press attended the event.

Special guests to this event include: Mr. Gary Locke, former U.S. Secretary of Commerce and former U.S. Ambassador to China, Ms. Xia Hua, Senior Vice Chairwoman of GASME China Region and President of Eve Fashion Garments, Mr. Bian Huaduo, Vice Chairman of GASME China Region, CEO of Harlyn Capital and CIO of Far East Group, Mr. Frank Cao, Secretary-General of GASME and Advisor to Former President of Germany Mr. Christian Wulff, and Mr. Jin Guanghui, Vice Chairman of GASME China Region and Board Chairman of Ningbo Xinjinwanhao Holding Group.

Ambassador Locke highlighted in his speech that “we want a strong and prosperous China that plays a key role in world affairs and works with us to uphold the international rules-based order and to ensure peace and stability throughout the world. A strong China is critical in the fight against terrorism and in halting the proliferation of nuclear weapons. A prosperous China with a rising middle class means more demand for our high quality made-in-USA goods and services, and that means more jobs for Americans back home. A strong US economy is good for China. It means more Americans with money in their pockets to purchase items – much of which is made in China. Thus, a strong US economy means jobs for the people here in China.”

Ms. Xia Hua, President of Eve Fashion Garments, Mr. Xie Xianlong, Secretary-General of GASME Center for World Economic Studies, Mr. Yang Xinge, Vice President of Stars Group and Mr. Yu Bozhang, CEO of MeiZiJ Group had a round of dialogue with Ambassador Locke, discussing hotspot issues such as the trend of global economic development, China-US economic cooperation and trade, and cultural exchanges.

As to the future economic development in China, Mr. Bian Huaduo, Senior Vice President of Far East Group pointed it out in his speech: China’s economy faces pressure of promoting growth and making adjustment over the short run, but its long-term trend and driver remain unchanged. The global economic crisis changes the paces of development only without alternating the trend of development. The 21st century is bound to mark the 100 years when China will grow stronger and more charming in addition to becoming more prosperous.

Secretary-General of GASME Mr. Frank Cao announced that the Global Forum for Fortune 500 and SME Cooperation 2016, organized by the Global Alliance of SMEs, China International Council for the Promotion of Multinational Corporations, Global Times, China Business Network and Western Returned Scholars Association, would be held in Kerry Hotel Pudong, Shanghai from September 12th and 14th, 2016.
