China Sourcing Summit 2012 Held in Hangzhou

China Sourcing Summit 2012 was held on September 26 in Hangzhou. Mr. Wang Chao, Vice Minister of Commerce, Mr. Gong Zheng, Executive Vice-Governor of Zhejiang Province, and Mr. Shao Zhanwei, Deputy Secretary and Mayor of Hangzhou attended and addressed the opening ceremony.

Vice Minister Wang Chao said that China’s service outsourcing industry is a talent-intensive modern high-end industry. To vigorously develop China’s outsourcing is helpful for speeding up the transformation of economic development mode and advancing the course of development of modern service industry with Chinese characteristics, and is conducive to the transformation and upgrading of foreign trade and improvement of the capability of independent innovation and building of an innovative country.

Vice Minister Wang Chao pointed out that the Central Government has formulated, promulgated and implemented a series of industrial promotion policies and regarded 21 cities, including Hangzhou, as demonstration cities of outsourcing. Local governments have also introduced relevant supporting policies.

The total value of service outsourcing contracts in 2011 was US$ 32.39 billion, up by 63.6% as compared with that of the previous year. Among that, the total value of international service outsourcing contracts was US$ 23.83 billion, up by 65.0% year-on-year, and 22 percentage points higher than that of the previous year. The total value of service outsourcing contracts from January to August was US$ 26.89 billion, up by 54.7% year-on-year. Among that, the total value of international service outsourcing contracts from January to August was US$ 18.71 billion, up by 48.4%. In this process, a number of outstanding local leaders and the outsourcing enterprises have continuously developed and actively participated in international competition and cooperation.

Vice Minister Wang Chao said that on one hand, MOFCOM hoped that China Sourcing Summit 2012 could provide a close exchange platform for domestic and overseas buyers and service providers, show the ability of China’s enterprises to undertake outsourcing projects, and create new opportunities for cooperation; on the other hand, MOFCOM hoped that China Sourcing Summit 2012 could bring together the wisdom of top service outsourcing analysts, experts and well-known buyers and suppliers at home and abroad so as to further explore the future development of China's service outsourcing industry.

Attending the summit are more than 1,000 representatives from the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the People’s Government of Zhejiang Province, commercial departments of outsourcing demonstration cities, well-known buyers and suppliers at home and abroad, experts and media attended the opening ceremony.
